About
Hello! I’m Jenna.
Here’s a little bit about me, my journey, and Embodied Spirit.✨
I started practicing yoga in 2006, mainly to bring some stretching into my high-intensity workout routine. I really enjoyed the physical asanas, but it wasn’t until early 2020 when I realized - through pain and immobility - that it was time to deepen my practice. My body was storing stress, emotions, and memories, and I wanted to process those things by learning to meditate.🧘♀️
Starting with just 5-10 minutes of meditation a day (using an app) and my inner world immediately opened to me. I felt like I discovered who I really am, what I really want and need. These discoveries totally debunked the societal rules and expectations that had been driving my life choices up until that point. I was 38 at the time, married, with a young son, getting my dopamine by being a high achiever at work and largely feeling lost and disconnected from self + spirit.✨
So, I shook up my life. My ex and I amicably divorced, I dove head first into my practice - and, by extension, deeper into myself - and I continued to hear an inner calling to go further into yoga as a way of life. I had so many inspirational live and virtual teachers during this time and I’m so grateful for their giving and guidance.
I graduated from 200hr YTT in May 2023, and am learning every day as a new teacher, through practice + education. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the wisdom yogic and descendant philosophies impart, and I feel a tireless curiosity within me.
✨Inspired by the ways the physical practice, breathwork and meditation drove my own self-discovery and continue to help me live my most authentic, embodied experience, I created Embodied Spirit. My mission is to help people learn how to turn inward, quiet the mind, connect body and breath, and find truth, peace, joy, and love in themselves and in the present moment.✨
Whether you’re brand new to yoga or an experienced yogi, I’d love to see you in class or at an event. I also offer private sessions if 1:1 is more your speed. I share regular intentions and affirmations on Instagram and through my newsletter, and will expand my content offering organically over time.
Outside of teaching yoga, I love spending time with my beautiful son, friends + family, being in nature, seeing live music, reading, and traveling near and far. I’m also a total mountain gorilla conservation geek so if that’s your jam, well, let’s be friends 🦍.
